PerskySunder Ventura Blvd head shotjpegI spoke with a lovely woman today from out of town who was concerned about her recent facial plastic surgery treatments. The results were “ruining her life.” She emailed photos which I evaluated. When we spoke, though she was 2000 miles away, I reassured her that she would be fine, that she should absolutely not undergo any drastic measures that would create real problems (as some advise online), and that with a Voluma deMaio certificlittle Botox and Voluma placed properly, all would be well.

As I know that she found our practice online. I began our conversation with, “The best advice that I can give you is to stay off line about your problem.” We see so many patients that are terrified well beyond what they should be because of the horror stories that they read online. Sites such as RealSelf.com are great patient-physician question-answer online sites, but once you have posted your question and received answers from multiple physicians, it is best to stay away from the electronic devices. Choose your facial plastic surgeon most carefully, and then trust their expertise. The slogan for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) is “Trust Your Face to a Plastic Surgeon.”

She seemed very relieved at the end of our conversation and was most thankful for my time. I shared with her one of my father’s favorite sayings, “If I can make one person smile in a day, then it’s been a great day!” It’s been a great day. Be well.
