“If perfect is what you’re searching for
Then just stay the same

So don’t even bother asking
If you look okay
You know I say

When I see your face
There’s not a thing that I would change
Cause you’re amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile,
The whole world stops and stares for awhile
Cause girl you’re amazing
Just the way you are.”

Bruno Mars “Just the Way You Are”

Often times patients ask, “Do you ever tell a patient that they just don’t need anything?”  The answer to that question is found in a drawer in our consultation room where printed lyrics to Bruno Mars hit song “Just the Way You Are” are kept.  Many times near the end of a consultation, Dr. Sunder and I will reach into that drawer, pull out a copy, and hand it to our patient who is asking, “So doc, what would you do for me?”

It is important to be able to trust your facial plastic surgeon, that there is the realistic possibility that “nothing” may be the best treatment for you.  Certainly if we share our patients perception of their concerns, and feel that we have a treatment that will help them acheive their asthetic goals, we would not hesitate to suggest a course of treatment.

Unfortunately, there are too many “cosmetic physicians” willing to treat every patient who walks through their door, whether or not it is in the patient’s best interests.  But that is one answer to another frequently asked question, “Why are there so many “plastic” looking people out there?”

We recently consulted with a most beautiful young woman who recently had fat transfer by another plastic surgeon to augment her cheeks.  She looked Vogue magazine model beautiful, yet felt that she needed more fat or filler just below her eyes because now her eyes were “too sunken in”.  She “hated” the way she now looked.  Fortunately we were able to convince her to wait until all of  the swelling and fat reabsorption took place (over the next 5 months), being positive that she would be very happy with the results of patiently doing nothing.  So okay, we were talked into putting a pinch of filler into her lips.  The point being, she could very well have found a surgeon who would have been more than happy to collect her cash and unnecessarily perform potentially mutilating additional fat transfer surgery.

Drs. Sunder and Persky are willing to offer their patients treatments ranging from “nothing” to the most advanced, elegant surgical rejuvenation including everything in between.

Trust is everything.  Trust your face to a physician who is willing to be truthful and who is willing to say no when nothing is needed.

Just the way you are”
