One of the most popular treatments today at Persky Sunder Facial Plastic Surgery is CoolSculpting by Zeltiq. It has been referred to as “Freeze the Fat”, “Squeeze it and Freeze it”, or by some of our patients as just “The Fat Machine”. As I write this, we have a patient having his “love handles” and “tummy” reduced while he works on his computer between catching a little nap. The treatment is ideal for those who wish to get rid of or reduce that annoying bulge of fat that is resistant to diet and exercise.

Coolsculpt ad2CoolSculpting takes one hour per area and is pain free. There is no downtime and you may return to normal activities immediately. The results can be seen as early as two to three weeks, and continue to improve over a 2 to 4 month time period. The fat bulge is reduced 20 to 25% each treatment so depending on how much fat is present at the beginning, it may take from 1 to 3 or 4 treatment sessions for ideal results. Our physicians personally perform all of the treatments to insure your safety and best results. If you can “pinch an inch” and want to freeze the fat or squeeze it and freeze it, feel free to contact us. Be well!

What happens in Vegas usually stays in Vegas, except for the latest news in aesthetic treatments presented by some of the world’s leading aesthetic physicians at the 4’TH Cosmetic Surgery Forum held at The Palazzo this past week. Course Chairman Joel Schlessinger, MD (Omaha, Nebraska) designed the course to include brief presentations followed by in depth discussions. Live injection and treatment sessions kept a long line of prospective volunteers lining the hallways outside of the treatment rooms. It is always a pleasure to be able to teach residents in training during this meeting.

Michael Persky, MD was honored to be included in the CSF program. Dr. Persky spoke about Ulthera, Sculptra, CoolSculpting, Fat Transfer, and Cellulaze. Fractionated laser treatment, Ulthera, and the use of blunt tipped canullas for the injection of facial fillers have gained increased popularity since last year’s program.

Erin Gilbert, MD (NYC, New York) presented her study on the use of botulinium toxin for the relief of psoriasis. Though it is thought that few patients will have frequent Botox injections to treat their psoriasis, this finding bodes well for the rumored soon to be approved “topical Botox” manufactured by Revance Therapeutics (Newark, New Jersey).

Adam Rotunda, MD (Newport Beach, CA) discussed ATX-101 (Kythera, Calabasas, CA) an injectable substance that dissolves fat in the sub mental area (under the chin, kiss those double chins goodbye if this proves to be safe and effective).

The always intellectually stimulating Steve Dayan, MD (Chicago, IL) presented a brief preview of his mathematical formula for facial beauty based on the distance between our eyes (as an aside, Steven Wright joked, “Imagine how wierd phones would look if our mouths and ears were farther apart.”); think of it as a 2012 modern day version of Leonardo da Vinci’s “Devine Proportion” of facial beauty. Even with the best of formulas, the most important aspect of facial rejuvenation treatment will remain the artistic vision of the surgeon/physician. As one of my colleagues has said, “Without artistic vision, there can be technical success yet aesthetic failure.”

For Dr. Persky, the best aspect of the meeting is returning home and having the privilege and opportunity to use new techniques and products to the benefit of our patients.
