00:20- How upper eye lid surgery/upper Blepharoplasty can be really nice and easy;

01:00- How this surgery leaves volume on the face and gives much natural looking results;

02:00- Details of the procedure and that why it is their favorite procedure;

One of the most common complaints that we see here at Persky Sunder Facial Plastic Surgery is complaints that the upper eyelids are heavy. One of the nice procedures that we have to offer those patients is an upper eyelid surgery or upper Blepharoplasty. One of the nicest things about the procedure today is that it can be done easily in our office under local anesthesia without having to go to the operating room, without having to undergo anesthesia, and without a long recovery time. The reason what we found is that it’s really in a great majority of patients only necessary to remove the excess skin at the upper eyelid, leaving the muscle and fat behind because that’s good volume; What we found over the years is that we want to leave volume in the face, particularly around the eyes to avoid that hollowed-out appearance. So many patients are unaware of how easy it is. The surgery is done here in the office under local anesthesia. We do have the patients have somebody dive them in; They are given a little bit of Xanax and a little bit of Demerol. The only thing that they feel is a little pinch of local anesthesia.

Once that’s done, the procedure takes 30 minutes on each eye; After an hour, they are pretty much ready to go home. The stitches stay in place for 4-5 days and then come out. The incision is actually hidden in the natural skin crease. People are always worried where is that scar gonna be; After a few weeks, it’s really hard to tell that anything’s been done; By just removing skin, we give a very natural appearance to the eyes, without the hollowed-out plastic surgical look. So, upper eyelid surgery is one of our favorites- it’s quick, easy and relatively complication-free. The only thing to worry about is may be a stitch; But because it is skin only, the complications that we were worried about in the past really are not a problem.

00:05- The ideal candidates for upper eyelid surgery;

00:50- How to show patients what they might look like after surgery;

01:05- How amazing and satisfying the procedure can be;

The ideal candidate for upper eyelid surgery is a man or woman who has excess of skin on their upper eyelid, and their eyebrow is still at the level of their bone. So in those patients, we know that by removing a little bit of excess skin of the upper brow, they will just be bright-eyed. A lot of times there is a little bit of hooding of skin laterally, and we get rid of that at the same time. One of the nicest things that we have in our office is a piece of tape that fits on the upper eyelid; So, we can show patients beforehand what they might look like prior to their eyelid surgery. It is an amazingly quick and easy procedure with very little downtime. After a week, patients are able to resume their normal activities, and it is an amazingly satisfying procedure both for the patient and physician.

00:10- He discusses about when the patients can apply make up after an upper eyelid surgery;

01:00- He shares how at Persky Sunder Facial Plastic Surgery, they carry out the procedure perfectly;

After an upper eye lid surgery, the stitches are in place for 4-5 days, and once the stitches are taken out, we ask patients to wait for another day or two before applying any make up to the eyes, but usually, after about a week, patients can see the results, and they can cover up any little bruise or scar with a little bit of make up. It is usually by two to three weeks that they just look incredible. So, you see the result almost immediately, although the stitches are there; but then, as things heal over time, patients just get better and better. And it’s the type of procedure that really needs to be done only once when it’s done properly. Here at Persky Sunder Facial Plastic Surgery, we pride ourselves in taking out just enough skin so that the eyelids can still close, yet getting out all of the excess skin. So, patients don’t really need a second procedure.

00:05- He talks about how the upper eyelid surgery is one of the safest procedures that they do;

00:40- He shares how there is no risk to the vision with this procedure;

The upper eyelid surgery that we do is one of the safest procedures that we do, and I emphasize that with patients too. Patients are worried that we are operating close to the eye and it may affect their vision. We are only excising skin, so it’s only about making a small skin incision and taking the extra skin out and then sewing it up. We are not going into the deeper structures of the eyes as we did in the past, when we would take out fat and muscle, but today, we are not doing that. There is no risk to the vision, in fact, many patients have this procedure because their vision tends to be affected by the excess skin hanging over their eyes; They find their vision much improved after the procedure.

Life Style liftOne of the most common questions asked by our patients is, “What is this ‘Life Style Lift‘?” The term “Life Style Lift” is a successfully advertised and marketed national face lift and eyelid surgery performed at Life Style Lift Centers in most major US cities by surgeons working on commission for the company. The surgeries are performed under local anesthesia with the surgeon getting a small fraction of the discounted “mini-lift” fee. Debbie Boone,the current spokeswoman for Life Style Lift on cable TV, interviews patients who have had the surgery sharing their wonderful results and stories.

What isn’t covered on cable TV infommercials is that results, risks, and complications will vary depending on the skill, experience, and aesthetic vision of the surgeon who patients are assigned to at the Life Style Lift center, the same as with surgeons who perform mini-lifts outside of corporate Life Style Lift. That’s why we recommend that before any facial aesthetic procedure, patients make sure to do their due diligence and most importantly choose their facial surgeon most carefully.

We are often asked whether we perform “Life Style Lifts”. We perform mini-lifts and eyelid surgeries under local anesthesia in patients who are appropriate candidates for the surgery. Patients who are not candidates have full face/neck lifts and blepharoplasties under general anesthesia to give them the best possible long lasting and natural results.
