| Within three days after your Botox injections, the muscles are weakened, and by 10 to 14 days, the lines will fade and give way to smoother younger looking skin. The effects of Botox usually last from three to five months depending upon the patient. Repeated Botox treatments and proper use of Botox creams may ultimately lead to longer lasting results. There is very little discomfort involved; most patients prefer a topical numbing gel for approximately ten minutes before the treatment. Very rarely is there a small bruise at an injection site. There are no significant side effects and patients can resume normal activity immediately. We also offer Botox treatments for Hyperhydrosis (a condition resulting in excessive underarm perspiration). FDA-approved, this amazing Botox treatment, through proper placements of Botox injections, can dramatically reduce underarm moisture for up to a full year. | |||||||||
RestylaneRestylane has become the most popular current injectable filler. Restylane is a non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in all living cells. Restylane injections are used to fill in the deep lines around the lips, as well as between the mouth and nose. Restylane treatments give the most natural and attractive lip results. Restylane is also used as a filler in the “troughs” under the lower eyes. Restylane in this area blends the “bags” under the eyes into the cheeks, and gives the appearance equivalent to eyelid surgery. Restylane performs beautifully under the eyebrow to restore volume and lift the eyebrow and upper eyelid skin and is also used to fill the “sleep” lines that form on the cheeks of many patients. The areas of the Restylane injections are numbed with a topical gel prior to treatment. For some patients, a dental anesthetic block is performed when injecting Restylane into the lips. The results of Restylane injections usually last from six to nine months, but sometimes longer in some patients. Perlane is a thicker form of Restylane that lasts a few months longer. |

Juvéderm™Juvéderm™ is another hyaluronic acid product that is very similar to Restylane. Juvederm also comes in two forms, Juvéderm™ Ultra and Juvéderm™ Ultra-plus (a thicker version). Juvederm is FDA approved to last up to one year. |

RadiesseRadiesse is another good alternative injectable filler that is useful in some of the same areas as Restylane, but is not suitable for filling the lips or around the eyes. Radiesse is calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres and is injected slightly deeper in the skin. Radiesse lasts longer than other fillers, from one to two years. I continue to offer Collagen products to those patients that have been using it successfully. The products offered are Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast; both are human cell derived collagen. I currently do not use Silicone, Bio-almed, or Artefill as there have been a number of complications associated with these fillers, though fortunately not in my own patients. |
