Good Morning America featured a segment this morning on the increasing trend of men having Botox treatments, entitled “Bro-Tox“. Botox is the most popular aesthetic treatment in the world. In 2011, 300,000 U.S. men recieved Botox for facial wrinkles.   According to the website, crapplasticsurgery.com, “It seems that Botox is a popular treatment among the male cast of American Idol.

Ryan Seacrest reportedly overdid the Botox back in Season 2 of American Idol. When he turned up to work with a frozen face and told the producers of that he had undergone Botox injections to get rid of wrinkles on his face, they reportedly banned him from further treatments.”  Ryan’s co-American Idol friend Simon Cowell has admitted to Botox treatments as well.

Botox treatments in men should be subtle, not obvious.  We treat many celebrities, actors, singers, newscasters, and high profile men in our practice.  The use of “micro-Botox” (or Dysport or Xeomin, the other currently available FDA approved botulinium neuro-modulators) allows us to rejuvenate our patients without that obvious “Botoxed” look.  As with most of our aesthetic treatments, our goal is to help our patients look their best while being able to “fool their mother” about their treatment.  The GMA segment concluded showing men recieving gift certificates for Botox treatments instead of the usual tie or power tool for the holidays.  So next time you don’t know what to get “the man who has everything”,  a gift certificate for Bro-Tox may be just what the doctor ordered!  Happy and Healthy New Year!
