RealSelf actual patient comment:

“I am a young patient 24 and I was wondering what is the longest lasting and best treatment for my nasolabial folds, around the mouth area, corners of my mouth , cheeks? I have read good reviews about sculptra but not sure if that is going to be the best alternative for me. Thanks”

A.Nothing beats being 23 years old for nasolabial folds. Unfortunately from age 25 on we all begin the process of losing volume (bone, fat, and muscle) from our face. When there is volume loss from the maxilla (cheeks), the soft tissue above the nasolabial folds loses its scaffolding support and begins to head south. The best treatment to correct nasolabial folds is actually to avoid treating the fold itself (which is the result of volume loss in the cheek) and to instead treat the cause of the fold using either Voluma or Sculptra to replace (not augment) the lost cheek volume in a natural way. So many patients are concerned and share that they do not wish to look unnatural or have “bigger cheeks”. I do not make your cheeks bigger, rather just restore them to their previous more youthful volume. Make sure to choose your treating aesthetic physician most carefully.
