What Can I Expect From My Sofwave™ Treatment?
Sofwave™ treatments are performed in the office and take between 1 and 1.5 hours. While each patient is different, Dr. Persky will generally follow these steps:
Step One: Consultation
The first step is to meet with Dr. Persky to discuss your goals for rejuvenation. Dr. Persky will determine if you are a good candidate for Sofwave™ treatment. He will evaluate your skin and ensure you will benefit from the treatment. Then he will create a customized treatment plan detailing the number and duration of treatments that are best for you, as he treats every patient uniquely.
Step Two: Facial Numbing
While the majority of patients do not need any topical anesthesia, facial numbing is an option for patients who are anxious or who have no pain tolerance whatsoever. The Sofwave™ treatment is well-tolerated, but you may experience a slight warming sensation. Dr. Persky adjusts the power to accommodate each patient’s tolerance to a “4 to 5” on a discomfort scale of 10. The device’s built-in cooling system alleviates discomfort and reduces skin damage.
Step Three: Sofwave™ Treatment
Once your skin has been prepped and you are comfortably numb, Dr. Persky will begin treatment. He will pass the device’s handpiece across the treatment area, working section by section to deliver microfocused ultrasound energy in an even manner approximately 1 to 2 millimeters into the skin.
Step Four: Post-Treatment Care
Once your treatment is over, your face will be cleansed of any numbing cream or lubricating ointment, and you will be sent on your way. Sofwave™ is gentle enough that no recovery or downtime is necessary; some patients even schedule their appointments during a lunch break!
