Part 2: Emsculpt®

We just returned from South Beach and The Global Aesthetics Conference (GAC) 2019. GAC is a gathering of some of the best core specialty expert aesthetic physicians and surgeons from all over the world. I was privileged to give a presentation on the state-of-the-art Emsculpt® treatment. Emsculpt is the only FDA-approved technology that builds muscle.

I spoke of the history of electrical energy as a therapeutic in medicine. The Egyptian Nile Electric Catfish was the first medical use of electricity in 500 BC, treating pain. Bruce Lee and Mohammed Ali used electrical stimulation to tone their muscles. Emsculpt emits electromagnetic energy, which, unlike electrical energy, is able to stimulate all of the nerve axons of the muscle, causing “supramaximal” muscle contractions that cannot be duplicated voluntarily or with any other device.

On the last slide of his presentation on Emsculpt at the conference, Dr. Persky showed a picture of himself in a faux muscle shirt next to a picture of Bruce Lee baring his real chiseled abs from electrical stimulation.

Multiple independent scientific studies published in medical journals have documented that Emsculpt not only increases muscle mass by 16%, but that it decreases fat by 19% from 6 weeks to 6 months after twice a week 30-minute treatments for two weeks. What is most amazing is that new muscle fibers and blood vessels are formed, and muscle mass increased even more without further treatments to 19% improvement at one year. There is over a 4 centimeter loss in waist size, and an increase in strength and endurance. Yogi’s are able to hold “plank” position much longer. Abdominal treatment not only improves the appearance, but core strength is noticeably better.

The new arm treatment is increasing biceps by 2 inches and improving tricep tone. The new leg treatment is also very effective in building calves. Emsculpt on the butt rounds, strengthens, lifts, and tightens all 3 gluteal muscles (we can only work 2 of the 3 voluntarily.) There have been over 120,000 Emsculpt treatments during its first year on the market (80,000 abdominal and 40,000 buttocks treatments) with 0 complications.
