At the gym a recent morning I met a patient who said, “Oh, don’t look at this on my lip, it’s not a cold sore.  I thought it was a pimple and squeezed it, but nothing came out.  Now look how gross it looks.”  To which I, who had not noticed it because the women is naturally beautiful, simply replied, “I hadn’t noticed it; your beauty overwhelms it!”

We are so very critical of ourselves when we have so much to be grateful for instead.   A simple smile is the absolute best form of plastic surgery ever.  As good as we may be as aesthetic surgeons and physicians, we cannot match or re-create the true beauty of a simple smile.  There is also beauty found in treating others well.

The next time that you are bothered by something about yourself, smile and treat someone else well.  The beauty that you will create will overwhelm your complaint.  Be well.
